The BURRIS OPTICS TEAM CHALLENGE is the latest incarnation of the TEAM CHALLENGE concept we tried out in 2011: to link together a series of Steel-Safari stages with significant physical movement on foot, all while the team is on the clock. Set a long but challenging maximum time for negotiation of the path and stages, but also give progressive bonuses for finishing early. We also incorporate classic, old-school action-style Multi-Gun engagements into the match.

This match is an extreme test of practical field shooting of rifles, carbines, and pistols, and supporting activities. Two-man teams will be required to navigate rugged desert / mountainous terrain, recognize, locate, range, and engage challenging rifle targets from compromised shooting positions, communicate with their partner and the range officer (RO), and do it under time constraints. The shooting problems are hard.

The average competitor team will be able to make hits on targets at random distance out to 1000 yards on his home known-distance (K.D.) range and will have some experience with shooting positions other than prone. They will be able to communicate with each other reasonably well. They will have some experience shooting action or “assault style” stages also. He has no problem walking 3-4 miles a day on uneven terrain at 90-100 degrees.

The winning team will be able to clean or “almost clean” most UKD, “blind” rifle courses. The team will be very efficient transitioning from movement to shooting, locating, ranging, and engaging targets, and will not waste much communication; they will know what their partner is doing and what information he needs to proceed, and already be “on it.” They will have a level of fitness such that they can move very briskly in field terrain.

The 2019 BURRIS OPTICS TEAM CHALLENGE is June 27-30th at our private ranch in Douglas, WY. We have about a dozen team slots left at this time. Register now at http://competition-dynamics.com/burris-optics-team-challenge-2019/
